Residents of Alexandria have a new destination for quick and nutritious meals starting this Friday. Fresh Healthy Cafe, which has been quietly operating its soft opening phase, will officially mark its arrival in the Carlyle neighborhood with a formal ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:55 a.m. To celebrate the occasion, the establishment is offering some enticing deals for early visitors, including a buy-one-get-one-free special on twelve ounce smoothies and twenty five percent discounts on their signature protein bowls and paninis.
Located at 2040 Jamieson Avenue near the U.S. District Courthouse and the Westin Hotel, the cafe occupies a storefront previously home to a Starbucks. The menu focuses on balanced energy, featuring everything from fresh squeezed juices to hearty grilled sandwiches. Visitors can currently enjoy autumn inspired flavors like the Pumpkin Spice Smoothie or the Cranberry Brie Harvest Toastie, while those looking for deeper wellness routines can look forward to upcoming refresh juice cleanses available in various durations.
The business was founded in 2019 by husband and wife duo Rick Hetzel and Cheryl Mothes, who launched the venture in Missouri. Drawing on Mothes’ background as a nurse with a doctorate in holistic nutrition, the couple aims to provide communities with accessible tools for living healthier lives. This expansion into Virginia is part of a larger growth strategy for the brand, which already operates over a dozen sites across North America and plans to open another nearby location in Washington D C s Mount Vernon Triangle area shortly.
Inside the cozy space, patrons will find seating for roughly twenty people along with a few outdoor tables for those preferring fresh air during their break. The cafe maintains regular hours from ten in the morning until eight at night Monday through Saturday, though it remains closed on Sundays. Whether you are stopping in for a post workout protein bowl or a mid day caffeine alternative, the new spot promises to bring an emphasis on wellness to the local streetscape.
